Had Kyren and his team out to sort a leaking roof valley on our terrace after the heavy rains last month. They turned up when they said they would, got straight to work, and cleaned up all the old tile debris properly before leaving. Fair price and solid work.
Roofers in Plymstock
Plymstock sits across the Plym from the city on limestone, quarried at Oreston for the Breakwater, with old waterside villages on its edge and a lot of twentieth-century housing in between. Roofsure covers the whole of it.

Waterside Villages and Newer Roads
Hooe, Turnchapel and Oreston are the old part, small waterside settlements on Hooe Lake and the Cattewater. Turnchapel is a conservation area, tight and steep and close to the water, and its listed Boringdon Terrace, early nineteenth century and stuccoed, still has natural slate on some of its roofs and asbestos-cement slate where the rest was replaced. That replacement turns up on older roofs right across this side of the city, and it needs identifying before a roof is stripped. Most of Plymstock is newer. It was a rural parish until the twentieth century, grew quickly either side of the Second World War as somewhere to live for people working in the city, and joined Plymouth in 1967. Elburton, Goosewell, Staddiscombe, Pomphlett and Billacombe are mostly semis, bungalows and short terraces from those decades, many with flat-roofed extensions added since. Bungalows have long, low roofs that take the weather right across their width.
Facing the Sound
Turnchapel and Mount Batten face straight out across the Sound; the Mount Batten isthmus was breached by the sea in the 1630s and only settled once the breakwaters were built. Salt and wind work the mortar out of ridges and verges on this side faster than in the sheltered parts of the city, and a bungalow ridge that has never been dry-fixed is usually the first thing to go.
Access and Permissions
On the estates, wide roads and drives make scaffold simple. In Turnchapel and the older parts of Hooe and Oreston the streets are narrow and steep, so we look at access on the free roof check and build it into the price rather than finding it out on the day. Turnchapel has been a conservation area since 1977, so a change of roof material there needs checking with the council first.

Questions From Plymstock
Do you do bungalow re-roofs?
Yes. A bungalow roof is low enough that the scaffold is quick, and a re-roof with a dry ridge stops the mortar falling out every winter.
My old roof might have asbestos slates. What happens?
We tell you on the free roof check if we think it has, and if a sample needs testing before anything is stripped. It changes how the old covering comes off and where it goes, so it goes into the price from the start.
Do you cover Brixton and Yealmpton?
Yes, both are inside our 10 miles and covered from this page.
Customer Reviews
We needed composite cladding put on the back extension to replace some old timber that was rotting. Kyren gave us a straightforward quote with no hidden extras. The finish is spot on, and the lads worked right through a couple of miserable weather days to get it finished on schedule.
Kyren and his team repointed the entire side gable on our cottage. Very tidy workers, raked out the old crumbling mortar cleanly, and matched the new pointing nicely with the rest of the brickwork. Polite, punctual, and easy to deal with.
Full re-slate and lead flashing job on our bungalow. Kyren explained exactly what needed replacing without trying to upsell unnecessary extras. Scaffolding went up and came down on time, and the roof looks great. Good, hard-working local crew.
Called Roofsure after noticing a couple of slipped tiles and loose mortar around the chimney stack. Kyren popped round to take a look, gave a reasonable estimate, and had the job done by the end of the week. Honest, reliable service.
